What is Internet Radio?

Internet Radio is technology that allows a user to listen to audio material "live"
via the Internet to their computer.
Traditional radio requires that you have your radio receiver tuned to a certain
station (AM/FM) to adequately receive a broadcast signal. The station you are
tuned to must have a transmitter capable of sending the signal to your antenna,
and must also provide the audio material that you will eventually hear on your
radio.
With Internet Radio, your computer becomes your radio receiver (with proper
software installed) and your Internet Service Provider becomes your antenna.
Our Internet Radio server is the transmitter that sends our audio material
to your computer. Just like AM and FM, there are various "transmission methods"
for sending the audio to your computer, including Windows Media, RealAudio and MPEG.

How do I listen to BVOV Radio?

To listen to BVOV Radio, most listeners do not need to do anything except go to
BVOV Radio (http://www.bvovradio.org) and click on the Windows Media
Player link that corresponds to the type of Internet connection they use,
either broadband or dial-up.
If you have a "Mac", you can get Windows Media Player for Mac OS 8.1 and higher
by visiting Microsoft's
Windows Media Download Center. Listeners with Windows operating systems can
upgrade by going to the
Microsoft Windows Update page.
Although we still maintain a link to listen to BVOV Radio using RealPlayer
(now called RealOne), we no longer recommend it due to reported listener
problems. Other players that do work fine are
Winamp and for our broadband listeners, the new player from
iM Networks. Just download and install the player and click on the "iM Band
Guide" on the right side of the player. Select the "Religious" category and
you will find BVOV Radio near the top of the list. You will only need to tune
once to BVOV Radio, because the always starts on the last station you
listened to.

Can I listen to BVOV Radio on a normal radio station in my area?

BVOV Radio is only available over the Internet, although we are looking at
other transmission methods.

I'm having problems with my player pausing, buffering or disconnecting. How can I fix this?

The most common cause of this problem is that a listener with a dial-up
connection to the Internet is trying to listen to one of our broadband
channels. If you have a dial-up Internet connection, go to our
BVOV Radio home page and click on
one of the links under Dial-up Internet Connection.

I'm connected to the correct channel, but I'm still having problems. What can I do?

If buffering and pauses are a continuous problem then you need to check your
Internet connection speed. A lower-than-normal connection speed can cause
buffering, pauses, and even disconnects. Reductions in speed can be caused
by a poor telephone line connection for dial-up listeners or an over-burdened
Internet Service Provider. Using RealPlayer (or RealOne Player) can aggravate this
situation. We have a test that can be performed that will help you diagnose
the problem.
to run the test. Those with a dial-up Internet connection, please allow a few
moments for the results to display. This will report your connection speed
in Kbps (Kilobits per second). Run the test several times. Dial-up listeners
will need at least 30 Kbps to listen to our Winamp and RealPlayer dial-up
channels, or at least 20 Kbps to listen to our dial-up Windows Media Player
channel. Broadband connected listeners should normally have speeds in the
300+ Kbps range or at least receive the bandwidth promised by your Internet Service
Provider. To listen to all of our broadband BVOV Radio channels you
should consistently be receiving 140 Kbps.
We will be glad to assist you further if you need help. Just go to the
BVOV Radio Contact
Page and drop us a line.

I see BVOV Radio has a "sister station" called BVOV-TV. What's that all about?

In the early days of television, stations were just on the air a few hours
a week and many people referred to it as "radio with pictures." That is
a good description of BVOV-TV. BVOV-TV is "on the air" only when there is
a selected "live" event being transmitted. Examples are the four "live"
Eagle Mountain International Church services that are carried each week
on BVOV Radio and TV. While BVOV Radio re-broadcasts EMIC services, BVOV-TV
only transmits them as they are happening. BVOV-TV requires Windows Media
Player in order to watch. BVOV-TV should not be confused with our Study Center
Webcasts of the daily and Sunday Believers' Voice of Victory programs which are
available "on-demand" anytime for your convenience.
